VIETNAM COMBAT VETERANS FLIGHT
for 502 Veterans
June 6, 2016
Thank you all for your service and Welcome Home!
Maybe one of the answers to PTSD is an outpouring by one's community to offer respect and a true "Welcome Home." So many thank you letters have been received after the June 6, 2016 flight to Washington D.c. that included comments about the healing taking place and another repeated phrase: "I'm proud to be a Vietnam veteran."
Gus Moreno stopped by a few days after the Vietnam Flight and shared that after 45 years of sleeping pills and insomnia, he slept for 7 hours straight for the first time when he returned from Washington D.C. The flight with comrades to visit the Vietnam Wall may actually be the best therapy. That and the many prayers we know were lifted up and the Welcome Party in Washington D.C. But the best part of all had to be the WELCOME HOME reception at Eppley Airfield - thank you to the estimated 5,000 who stood, waited, clapped, cheered, hugged, sang, bugled, drummed or piped or held flags, especially those who brought their children...teaching patriotism, respect and honor.
"Everything said is so true. It couldn't have been any better. We owe many thanks to every person who played a role in this whole affair. It was very healing for both veterans and families. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God bless all of you and the United States of America!" (Susan Johnson, Facebook entry)
